Jonathan Levy grew up in the woods outside Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where he spent his childhood exploring creeks, getting lost on purpose, and making Twin Peaks fan fiction with his friends. He eventually found his way to New York, where his plays, including Camping Out, were produced by The Collective NY. His screenplays have since placed at the Austin Film Festival and HollyShorts.

As a writer-director, his films include Unleashed (SeriesFest), Surveyor (HollyShorts), and the documentary None of It's Real (AmDocs). His producing credits include FUCK MY SON! (TIFF Midnight Madness 2025, Sitges 2025) and AGONIST (Palm Springs ShortFest). He's also appeared in Abel Ferrara's Mulberry Street, Adult Swim's Delocated, and, somehow, America's Got Talent.

Jonathan holds a master's in geography and has worked as a cartographer for the United Nations and the Forest Service, which may explain why his films are so obsessed with place. Now based in Los Angeles, he hosts VHS Garage, where he screens B-movies from the ’80s and ’90s for friends and whoever else shows up. He plays drums, shoots 35mm film, and makes a respectable half sour pickle.
